| The Natural Beauty of Wood |
Mouse over the image above. You will see a phenomenon that only a natural wood product can produce. The 3 sample chips are from the same stock, stain and finish. They match perfectly. When the grain direction of the center chip is turned 90°, light plays with the grain differently, casting internal shadows and refracting within the transparency of the finish. Even when the grain direction is the same, the light on the right side is slightly stronger than the left side, and is mixed with diffused sunlight and even florescent lighting. You can actually see the mixture of light sources making a beautiful transformation from right to left. |
| Unique Characteristics |
Unlike a printed product, such as melamine, high pressure laminate or thermofoil, wood has variation. You must accept this distinction. Wood will darken over time. Lighter colored woods will change and darken more noticeably than darker woods. The lighting of the room will affect the look of wood. There is a difference in how wood appears when used on a vertical surface and a horizontal surface. When you specify wood surfaces in a fine furniture product, you will be excited by these qualities because they add unique character to the end product. |
How to Specify
Wood and Veneer Finishes |
We offer a basic selection of wood species and colors, as well as custom matches. We show our basic choices with the grain expressed in 2 directions for the reasons shown above. When you click on the chips, a window with a larger picture of the sample will open. Each monitor in the world is unique, so you can't really make a good color decision based on a web preview. Wood lives in the real world and cannot be represented well on a computer screen. Please request samples in the process of developing a quote with us. For a custom match, send us a sample of what we are to match. |
